How Agents pick their favorites

Each week, our Agents get to taste dozens of wines to uncover the best deals for you. While we love all kinds of wine, we can't help but play favorites every now and then.

For us, this is where wine tasting gets personal. Some of our Agents keep only a handful of bottles close to heart, while others light up at every new bubbly that lands on our doorstep. There's no set schedule or rulebook for what goes into each of their picks. Every Agent decides when and how often they want to add a bottle.

Please note for this summer, the Temperature Controlled Shipping and Ice Pack option is pre-selected in checkout or when shipping a locker. If you choose to not use Temp Controlled shipping or ice packs, you will have to manually uncheck those boxes.

    We strongly recommend selecting Temperature Controlled Shipping and Ice Packs Where Available. This isn’t a requirement, but if at any point it’s over 80 degrees between where you live and Sonoma County, you should be using Temp Controlled Shipping and Ice Packs.
    Temperature Controlled (TC) orders must be placed by Wednesday at 4 PM PST to be eligible for that week’s Friday shipment. While we do our best to process all orders received by the cutoff, if we have a lot of vendor check-ins, sometimes it won’t make that week’s delivery. Orders that miss the cutoff or require additional processing will ship the following Friday, which may add up to a week to your delivery timeline - but will ensure your wine is safe from the heat in transit. Once shipped, your order typically reaches your local delivery hub within 3–5 business days, followed by 1–2 business days for final delivery by your local carrier.
    You will be emailed when your order is shipping, when it’s in transit and when it’s out for delivery. If you have a mobile number with us, you will also be notified via text. You can always check your delivery status by visiting your tracking link in email, text or see live updates under each order in your Wine Spies account.
    Ice packs are HIGHLY recommended and protect your order after the temperature control truck delivers to your local carrier’s hub, which is normally UPS or FedEx. Once your Temperature Controlled order reaches the local carrier, ice packs are then inserted to preserve the wine temperature from the local carrier to your location. Ice packs last up to 48 hours but that time can be increased or decreased based on weather.
    Ice Pack Costs: Ice packs are an additional $10 for 12 bottle orders and $8 for 6 bottle orders.
    We HIGHLY ENCOURAGE the use of UPS or FedEx pickup locations. You can have your wine delivered to one of these locations, signed for and available for pickup. The good part about this is you don’t have to be present for your wine to be received and it’s also held in a temperature controlled location as opposed to sitting on a hot truck.
    If you are in the Western US (CA, NV, OR, WA, ID, MT, ND) you are normally a 2 day delivery window away, therefore TC truck selection is not available and it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to protect your order in transit with Ice Packs.
    Shipping Holds: If the destination in your location is forecasted to be over 100 degrees, we will be holding all shipments until temps cool in your area. Ice packs won’t survive very long over 100 which means your wine would be compromised. We evaluate the weather twice a week and will remove holds whenever possible.
    We appreciate your patience—our top priority is getting your wine to you in perfect condition. And as you know, if anything happens to your wine in transit, we have you covered. Just reach out to support and we will get taken care of.
